Everyday, I see this preacher on TV
He makes it clear, got his sights on saving me
From myself
He's got the proof, what he wants for me is best
It's in the book, if I agree I will be blessed
Well I don't agree
And glory be, he's coming after me
And he's got a bible in his hand
And he's mad as hell cause he can tell
I am a devil masquerading as a man
And when he lies, he does it in the name of God
He does it in the name of God
The gentle words, that Jesus spoke he cannot hear
With righteousness, he preaches ignorance and fear
And I am afraid
Around the world are other holy men like him
They do their work with bloody wars that never end
They deal in hate
And glory be, one's coming after me
And he's got a rifle in his hand
And he's mad as hell cause he can tell
I am a devil masquerading as a man
And when he kills, he does it in the name of God
He does it in the name of God
One Mile Apart
By Lisa Aschmann, Michael Johnson & Karen Taylor-Good
My name is Mary Francis and I live in El Paso
In a large house on Mt. Franklin, I have quite a view
I can see the desert, pecan trees in the valley
Those little shacks in Juarez, yes I can see them too
My name is Juan Contreras and from my home in Juarez
I can see El Paso and the houses of the rich
I leave my children sleeping to earn a few pesetas
Selling red pistachios to the tourists on the bridge
(Chorus)
Which side of the river, did someone flip a coin
It's sad enough to break a river's heart
How can there be so much distance between us
When our houses are one mile apart
My house is Spanish stucco, it has a blue Jacuzzi
Four bedrooms and a fireplace, a swimming pool with heat
My house is brown adobe, I don't have running water
I don't have indoor plumbing, or pavement on my street
Chorus
You'll Always Be Heart And Soul To Me
By Pat Alger
Four hands, heart and soul
Out of tune on my old piano
Days were soft, nights were slow
Fingers poppin' to the radio
(Chorus)
Oh you were always right beside me
When trouble came, you would hide me
You will always be heart and soul to me
And you'd write me poetry
Simple lines so innocently
Songs would pour from my guitar
Easy ones 'bout the moon and stars
Chorus
I wonder where you are tonight
I wonder in whose arms tonight
I wonder if you think of me
With your heart and soul in the key of C
Oh you were always right beside me
When trouble came, you would hide me
You will always be, in my mind I can see
You will always be heart and soul to me
It's My Job
By Mac McAnally
In the middle of late last night, I was sittin' on a curb
Didn't know what about but something had me quite disturbed
Street sweeper comes whistling by and he's bouncing every step
Seems strange how good he felt so I asked him while he swept
He said it's my job to be cleaning up this mess
And that's the best reason to go for me
It's my job to be better than the rest
And that makes the day for me
Got an uncle that owns a bank, he's a self made millionaire
Never had anyone to thank, never had no one to care
He always seemed kind of sad to me so I asked him why that was
And he told me it's because in my contract there's a clause
That says it's my job to be worried half to death
And that's the thing people respect in me
It's my job and without it I'd be less
Than what I expect to be
I've been lazy most all my life, singing songs and sleeping late
Any manual labor I've done is purely by mistake
If street sweepers can smile then I got no right to feel upset
But sometimes I still forget till the lights come on and the stage is set
And the song hits home and you feel that sweat
It's my job to be different from the rest
And that's the best reason to go for me
It's my job to be better than the rest
And that's a tough break for me
It's my job to be cleaning up this mess
And that's the best reason to go for me
It's my job to be different from the rest
And that makes the day for me
If I Fell From Grace With You
By T. Kimmel, L. Aschmann
If I fell from grace with you, I pray I'd never fall in love again
If our ship should sail from view, I'd never want to feel another breath of wind
If you lost your faith in me, I don't know what I'd do
And I'm not sure who I'd be, if I fell from grace with you
If you turned and walked away, could I find the voice to turn you round
Would you hear the words I'd say, somewhere inside the hollow sound
If you never called my name, how could I answer true
If you turned and walked away, and I fell from grace with you
Would my life roll on, as if gray were blue
As if right were wrong, and December June
If I never touched your face, would the morning find the light
Would the rivers lose their way, or careless moon forget to rise
If you wandered from this place, would roses know to bloom
Who would hold me close this way, if I fell from grace with you
If I fell from grace with you
One Note Samba
By Antonio Carlos Jobim
This is just a little samba built upon a single note
Other notes are bound to follow but the root is still this note
Now this new one is the consequence of the one we've just been through
As I am bound to be the unavoidable consequence of you
There's so many people who just talk and talk and talk and don't say nothing
And I have used up all the notes I know and at the end I've come to nothing, nothing
So I come back to my first note as I must come back to you
I will pour into that one note all the love I have for you
Anyone who wants the whole show, re me fa sol la ti do
He will find himself with no show, you've got to play the note you know
